Welcome to BB Murrays NSW,
At BB Murrays NSW -BB Curly Brown Kennels we are passionate about supporting and developing one of Australia's Iconic working dogs,
Breeding Murrays since 2016.
The Murray River Retriever has become an overwhelming member of our own family and at BB Murrays we happy to help support you in bringing one into your family as well.
As members of the MRRA based in Victoria and Dogs NSW, We strive to build knowledge of this Iconic Australian Retriever and continued support to new owners in NSW.
In Jan 2022 the ANKC recognised the Murray River Retriever as a Pedigree & group 3 Gun dog.

The Murray River Retriever
The Murray is the only Group 3 Gundog whose country of development is Australia. Murrays have remained true to type since the 1800s and have been identified by DNA as not related to any other modern breed of dog. Initially used for duck hunting, they were versatile for flushing and pointing for birds and tracking other game. They have been trained for hunting, bomb detection, assistance and search and rescue. What to look for in the MRR
General Appearance: The Murray is stocky in build with a solid liver-coloured curled coat.
His/her size and build create a rectangular outline. Has a strong moderately broad head with a distinctive stop.
His/her ears hang loosely and frame the face. Distinctive webbed feet a hallmark of the breed.

As breeders of the Murray River Retriever, we are dedicated to ensure this beautiful natured breed continues its rich history in working and remaining a friendly family dog.
The Murray is a medium sized dog roughly 46-.53 cm (18-21”).
Grooming Requirements:
Low Maintenance
Medium shedding, but with regular brushing should keep shedding to a minimum, occasional light scissor trim, inner ears, back of legs, feet.
Coat is referred to as being close to a dry as bone, slightly oily undercoat and dry curl.
This is the perfect coat as Murrays love to swim all year round and are well known to utilise any body of water for their own amusement and swimming.
